Photography can be an exceptionally outstanding medium for describing visual concepts. I love it when photography - or any medium for that matter - goes beyond what it is "meant" to do or look like. When viewing art, we should always expect the unexpected... why settle for what a medium "should" do, when there are examples of what it "can" do. Check out Yuanling Wang's work... his photographs look like oil paintings. According to my photographically inclined husband, one of the processing techniques Yuanling Wang used to achieve this painterly look was multiple exposure layering - among other techniques of course.
